Shepparton Foodshare was honoured and excited to be announced to be announced in April as the SAM (Shepparton Art Museum) inaugural Community Partner for its two major exhibitions this year –

-        Facing Modernity: Degas to Picasso from Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki, and

-        Archibald Prize 2026

Having some of the biggest names in modern art history at Shepparton Art Museum is a once-in-a-generation opportunity.

A fabulous opportunity for local people, who receive a special discount to attend.

Shepparton Foodshare volunteers were deservedly treated to a VIP evening at Shepparton Art Museum with a private viewing of the Facing Modernity: Degas to Picasso exhibition ahead of its official opening.  It was a special opportunity for our volunteers to be treated like the VIPs they truly are.

The Degas to Picasso exhibition is on at SAM until 20 September 2026, and the Archibald Prize can be viewed from the 5 September until 1 November 2026.

It is anticipated the exhibitions will bring tens of thousands of people to Shepparton, leaving a lasting economic impact for our community and Shepparton Foodshare via a donation from a portion of ticket proceeds.

Tickets are on sale now - you can find out more and purchase online here via the SAM website - https://sheppartonartmuseum.com.au/

We congratulate the SAM team on this incredible achievement in bringing these two high-profile exhibitions to Shepparton.  The Facing Modernity exhibition is an Australian exclusive and the Archibald Prize a Victorian exclusive.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we operate —
the Yorta Yorta people
, and we pay our deep respects to their Elders past and present.

We also extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples

.

This is Yorta Yorta Country — a place of deep cultural significance and belonging, where the rivers meet, and where knowledge, stories, and food have been passed down for countless generations.

May we walk together with respect, learn from the wisdom of Country, and continue to support one another with the same generosity and spirit that has always lived on this land.
