Shepparton Foodshare is thrilled to announce that local waste, recycling and events solutions company, FOOTT has reaffirmed its support.
A long-time partner of Shepparton Foodshare since our vital local food relief service began in 2012, FOOTT has been covering the cost of our general waste and recycling bins and regular collections, saving around $65,000.
Shepparton Foodshare Executive Officer, Dee Healey, said, “As one of our founding supporters, Peter and Jenny Foott have led the way for other local businesses also wanting to support the community in which they operate and to achieve their corporate social responsibility goals.”
FOOTT marked this reaffirmed commitment to Shepparton Foodshare at our new food relief warehouse and distribution centre by delivering two sparkling new bins branded with the ‘FOOTT Cares Community’ logo.
The support provided via this partnership sees Shepparton Foodshare’s waste costs of around $5,000 annually covered by FOOTT. Whilst Foodshare has very little food waste, volunteers spend time sorting the packaging that food that is donated in to ensure waste that can be recycled is separated from general waste and placed in the correct bins.
FOOTT has been a part of the community for 33 years, supporting many worthy causes, just look out for the ‘FOOTT Cares Community’ logo to see their impact.
In the past, FOOTT has also been a ‘Monthly Partner’ of Shepparton Foodshare. An initiative that sees a person or business commit to a month that they will provide a set amount that is a tax- deductible financial contribution to support Foodshare's operating costs during their partner month.
FOOTT CEO Andrew Yeoland said, “Shepparton Foodshare has been providing food to those in need in our region for many years. FOOTT has supported Foodshare since its inception and we’re proud to continue covering their waste and recycling costs so they can focus their resources on providing food to the community. With their new facility now up and running, it was the perfect opportunity to deliver new bins. We are proud to support Dee, her team and the incredible volunteers.”
Dee said, “The need for food relief continues to grow, the last two years we distributed over 480,000 kilograms of food annually, or the equivalent of almost 1 million meals each year, a 30% increase since 2023.”
In total, Shepparton Foodshare has distributed 5 million kilos of food, or the equivalent of 10 million meals, to people in need and has redirected more than 4 million kilograms of edible food from entering landfill.
