STRATEGIC PLAN 2026-30

The Shepparton Foodshare Strategic Plan 2026–2030 sets out a clear and purposeful roadmap for the next four years as we continue to respond to food insecurity, strengthen our organisation, and support the health and wellbeing of our community.

Shepparton Foodshare was founded on a simple but powerful principle: that everyone deserves access to nutritious food, dignity in times of need, and hope for a more secure future. Over the years, our organisation has grown in scale, capability and impact, responding to changing community needs, increasing demand, and broader social and economic pressures. The period ahead will be no different.

This Strategic Plan reflects extensive consultation with our Board, staff, volunteers, partners, and community stakeholders. It captures our collective commitment to ensuring Shepparton Foodshare remains a trusted, effective, and sustainable organisation. At its heart, the plan reaffirms our purpose to provide equitable food access while also looking beyond immediate relief to long-term outcomes - building stronger systems, partnerships, and pathways that support community resilience.

The 2026-2030 period will focus on five key themes: strengthening organisational sustainability; enhancing service quality and reach; deepening partnerships across the food, health, and social sectors; and continuing to place dignity, inclusion, and cultural awareness at the centre of our work. We are equally committed to good governance, financial stewardship, and measuring the impact of our services to ensure we remain accountable to the communities and supporters who place their trust in us. They also align closely with the Regional Food Security Alliance (RFSA) strategic goals, ensuring our work contributes meaningfully to shared outcomes across regional Victoria.

Importantly, this plan recognises that Shepparton Foodshare does not work in isolation. Our success depends on the generosity of donors, the dedication of volunteers, the collaboration of partner agencies, the support of government and philanthropic funders, and the leadership of our staff. I acknowledge and thank everyone who contributes to our shared purpose. This collective commitment enables us to serve thousands of individuals and families each year and to continually improve how we respond to community need.

This Strategic Plan is both ambitious and grounded, setting clear priorities while allowing flexibility to respond to emerging challenges and opportunities. Most importantly, it keeps our community at the centre of every decision we make.

We look forward to working alongside our stakeholders as we deliver on this plan and continue to ensure that Shepparton Foodshare remains a vital, compassionate, and trusted presence for years to come.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we operate —
the Yorta Yorta people
, and we pay our deep respects to their Elders past and present.

We also extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples

.

This is Yorta Yorta Country — a place of deep cultural significance and belonging, where the rivers meet, and where knowledge, stories, and food have been passed down for countless generations.

May we walk together with respect, learn from the wisdom of Country, and continue to support one another with the same generosity and spirit that has always lived on this land.
